Aloha! ‛O wai ko‛u inoa River... my name is River. I've spent the last twenty years studying and offering healing arts in many forms, and I have recently relocated home to the islands after years of living away in Europe. Currently, I offer massage and bodywork on a part-time basis from my home in upper Olinda, high on the cool slopes of Haleakalā, in the eucalyptus forests above Makawao town. In this peaceful and private location, clients have the opportunity to experience truly world-class bodywork that integrates body, mind, spirit and soul.

kulaThe roots of my bodywork draw deeply from such diverse sources as Ayurveda, somatic psychology, movement arts, traditional massage therapies, Hawaiian Lomilomi, and intuitive/shamanic practices. As a trained aromatherapist, I also incorporate superb quality essential oils (independently sourced, quality tested) in healing blends for each client. Over the years, I have gathered elements from all that I've studied and developed a unique approach that I call Soul Centered Bodywork.

My table-based massage is slow, deep and meditative with a focus on breath. Attention is directed to areas of holding and restriction so that the body can release old patterns and reorganize to a higher level of healing. Visualization, breath, deep muscular work and intuitive "energy" techniques all play an important role in this approach. The power of attention invites one to become a participant in his own healing, while the long, flowing strokes provide a sense of integration and sensual dimension. The body is the sacred temple of Eros. Highly effective for pain and tension, the work bestows a profound sense of embodiment and relaxation, a richer connection with one's body and soul.

Treat yourself to a level of qualification and experience in bodywork not often encountered. Come to beautiful Olinda for a session here at my house on the cool, upcountry slopes far removed from the noise and bustle of the tourist areas, where the only sound you hear is the wind whispering in the fragrant trees. Take a deep breath and relax. Feel the aloha spirit and a sense of ‘akahi (kindness). Life is good.

Thanks for checking out my site and hopefully our paths will cross soon... a hui hou!

Aloha & ho‛ola (health, healing),
L. River Heartsong
